Congratulations to Quintin Swanepoel, an Orchard Manager at SCH, for recently placing 3rd at the 2021 Bay of Plenty Young Grower of the Year Competition. Quintin also took out the FertCo challenge which involved practical fertilizer calculations and application skills. This year was the 24-year-olds first time entering the competition. Quintin holds a Bachelor or Horticultural Science from Massey University. He has been part of the SCH team for over a year, always striving to manage kiwifruit orchards to a world class standard and challenge himself.

Quintin explains, “I really enjoyed the whole competition and the series of challenges during the day were really fun. It was great having heaps of support from the SCH team turning up at the dinner on the night where I presented my speech. I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t win first place, but I’ll definitely be entering again next year to take the top prize”.

SCH is passionate about enhancing the lives of our community and was a proud silver sponsor of the competition.
